Qur’an verses and hadith about duʿāʾ
Duʿāʾ is asking, and these passages are about who is heard, when the asking is closest to being answered, and what is said. Each one carries its full source and a short explanation of what it was answering.
- When you ask, ask Allah. When you seek help, seek help from Allah.Sunan al-Tirmidhi 2516

- Your Lord is Generous and Shy. When His servant raises his hands to Him, He is shy to return them empty.Sunan Abi Dawud 1488
- The supplication of a Muslim for his brother in his absence will be answered. At his head is an appointed angel; whenever he prays for good for his brother, the angel says, 'Ameen, and for you the like.'Sahih Muslim 2733
- Nothing is more honorable to Allah than supplication.Sunan al-Tirmidhi 3370
- O Allah, I seek refuge in You from anxiety and grief, from weakness and laziness, from cowardice and miserliness, and from being overcome by debt and overpowered by men.Sahih al-Bukhari 6369
- O Allah, You are my Lord; there is no god but You. You created me and I am Your servant. I acknowledge Your favour upon me and I acknowledge my sin, so forgive me, for none forgives sins but You.Sahih al-Bukhari 6306

- O Allah, I ask You for guidance, piety, chastity, and contentment.Sahih Muslim 2721
