He is the Ever-Living; there is no deity except Him, so call upon Him.
“He is the Ever-Living; there is no deity except Him, so call upon Him.”
He is the Living who will not die. There is no true god besides Him. So call upon him in worship and supplication, seeking His pleasure alone, and do not associate any of His creation as partners with Him. All praise is for Allah, Lord of the creation.
The plain meaning, from Al-Mukhtasar fi at-Tafsir
He is the Ever-Living; there is no deity except Him, so call upon Him, being sincere to Him in religion. All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
What does Quran 40:65 mean?
The verses before this run through what has been given — the night to rest in, the day to see by — and observe that most people still give no thanks. Then this: He is the Living, and there is no god but Him, so call on Him. The commentators read the name as the ground of the instruction. What makes calling worth doing is that the One called on does not die.
