Worship Me, and establish prayer for My remembrance.
“Worship Me, and establish prayer for My remembrance.”
I am Allah; there is no being deserving of worship but Me. So worship Me alone and perform the prayer in the perfect manner so that you may remember Me in it.
The plain meaning, from Al-Mukhtasar fi at-Tafsir
Indeed, I am Allah. There is no deity except Me, so worship Me and establish prayer for My remembrance.
What does Quran 20:14 mean?
These are among the first words Musa hears. He has just turned aside towards a fire in the valley of Tuwa, been called by name, and told to take off his sandals — and this is the message itself: I am Allah, there is no god but Me, so worship Me and establish the prayer. The reason given for the prayer is not reward or protection. It is remembrance: the prayer exists so that He is remembered in it.
