Indeed, adversity has touched me, and You are the most merciful of the merciful.

O Messenger! Mention the story of Job, when he prayed to his Lord at the time of affliction, saying, “O my Lord! I have been afflicted with an illness and loss of family, yet you are the most merciful from all those who show mercy, so remove the afflictions that have befallen me.”
The plain meaning, from Al-Mukhtasar fi at-Tafsir
وَأَيُّوبَ إِذْ نَادَىٰ رَبَّهُۥٓ أَنِّى مَسَّنِىَ ٱلضُّرُّ وَأَنتَ أَرْحَمُ ٱلرَّٰحِمِينَ
And mention Job, when he called to his Lord, "Indeed, adversity has touched me, and You are the most merciful of the merciful."
What does Quran 21:83 mean?
Ayyub (peace be upon him) had lost his health and his family, and this is how he finally speaks. The commentators note how much restraint the sentence holds: he states the affliction without describing it, makes no request at all, and then turns to what he knows about Allah rather than what he wants from Him. The next verse says the call was answered, the harm removed, and his family restored to him along with the like of them.
