The wound of the tongue is worse than the wound of the hand.
Arabic proverb
Arabic proverb

“The wound of the tongue is worse than the wound of the hand.”

The explanation

What does Arabic proverb mean?

The classical Arabic form is a line of poetry: “wounds from spears may heal, but the wound made by the tongue does not.” The proverb keeps the comparison and softens the weapon. Its seriousness in Islam comes from the hadith that a person can say a word he thinks nothing of and fall by it further than he can imagine.
