The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) pointed out that no Muslim attains complete Imān until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself, among the acts of worship and types of goodness in terms of the religion and the life of this world, and hates for his brother what he hates for himself.

عَنْ أَنَسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قالَ: «لاَ يُؤْمِنُ أَحَدُكُمْ، حَتَّى يُحِبَّ لِأَخِيهِ مَا يُحِبُّ لِنَفْسِهِ».
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "None of you believes until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself."
What does Sahih al-Bukhari 13 mean?
Narrated by Anas, and agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim. The scholars point out that the negation is of completeness, not of faith itself — the believer who fails here is deficient, not outside. And the gloss they give is active rather than sentimental: wanting for him what you want for yourself means helping him where he is lacking and advising him honestly, in religion and in the ordinary business of living.
