The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) encouraged the Mother of the Believers, ‘Ā’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her), to be gentle, informing that Allah deals gently and kindly with His servants and wants ease for them, not hardship.

عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أُمِّ المُؤْمِنين رضي الله عنها زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «يَا عَائِشَةُ إِنَّ اللهَ رَفِيقٌ يُحِبُّ الرِّفْقَ، وَيُعْطِي عَلَى الرِّفْقِ مَا لَا يُعْطِي عَلَى الْعُنْفِ، وَمَا لَا يُعْطِي عَلَى مَا سِوَاهُ».
‘Ā’ishah, the Mother of the believers (may Allah be pleased with her) and wife of the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him), reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O ‘Ā’ishah, indeed, Allah is gentle and He loves gentleness, and He gives for gentleness what He does not give for violence and what He does not give for anything else."
What does Sahih Muslim 2593 mean?
Narrated by ‘A’ishah and recorded by Muslim, and addressed to her by name. The rest of the hadith is the reason: Allah gives for gentleness what He does not give for harshness, and what He does not give for anything else. The same opening comes in another hadith of hers, recorded by al-Bukhari (6927) and Muslim (2165): a group of Jews greeted the Prophet (peace be upon him) with “death be upon you”, she answered them harshly, and he told her that Allah is gentle and loves gentleness “in every matter”.
