We have established you upon the earth and made for you therein ways of livelihood. Little are you grateful.
Quran 7:10
Quran 7:10

“We have established you upon the earth and made for you therein ways of livelihood. Little are you grateful.”

Allah certainly established you, O children of Adam, on the earth, and gave you the means of making a living. You should be thankful to Allah for that, but you give little thanks.

And We have certainly established you upon the earth and made for you therein ways of livelihood. Little are you grateful.

The explanation

What does Quran 7:10 mean?

The verse is addressed to the children of Adam as a whole, and it names two gifts that are easy not to see because they are the ground everyone stands on: a place on the earth, and the means to make a living from it. The closing clause is a plain report rather than a rebuke — little thanks do you give — and Surah al-A‘raf goes straight from it into the story of Adam’s creation.
