“The coolness of my eyes has been placed in prayer.”

The words come from a sentence recorded in the Sunan of an-Nasa’i in which the Prophet (peace be upon him) names what was made beloved to him of this world, and ends: “and the coolness of my eyes was placed in the prayer.” The Arabic idiom is about the eye that stops searching — the phrase is used for the thing that ends restlessness rather than the thing that entertains.
