Seek, through that which Allah has given you, the home of the Hereafter; and do not forget your share of the world. And do good, as Allah has done good to you.
Quran 28:77
Quran 28:77

“Seek, through that which Allah has given you, the home of the Hereafter; and do not forget your share of the world. And do good, as Allah has done good to you.”

And seek by the wealth Allah has given you the reward of the abode of the afterlife, by spending it in avenues of good. Do not forget your share of food, drink, clothes, and so forth amongst the blessings, without excessiveness or pride. And deal well with your Lord and with His servants, just as Allah has been good to you.

But seek, through that which Allah has given you, the home of the Hereafter; and yet, do not forget your share of the world. And do good as Allah has done good to you. And desire not corruption in the land. Indeed, Allah does not like corrupters."

The explanation

What does Quran 28:77 mean?

These are not Allah’s words to a prophet but the advice of ordinary people to Qarun — a man of Musa’s community whose wealth had made him arrogant, and whose keys, the surah says, were a burden for strong men to carry. Knowing who is being addressed changes the verse. The balance in it — seek the Hereafter, do not forget your share of the world — was spoken to someone whose problem was that he had forgotten the first half.
