Indeed My mercy prevails over My wrath.
“Indeed My mercy prevails over My wrath.”
When Allah created the creation, He wrote in a book, which is with Him over the Throne: Verily, My mercy predominates over My anger. In the Qur'an, He says: {And My mercy encompasses all things.} Indeed, this prompts Muslims not to despair or lose hope.
The plain meaning, from HadeethEnc
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When Allah created the creation, He wrote in a book, which is with Him over the Throne: Verily, My mercy predominates over My anger." Another narration: "My mercy predominated My anger.'' Another narration: "My mercy preceded My anger.''
What does Sahih al-Bukhari 7554 mean?
Narrated by Abu Hurayrah, agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim, and it is a hadith qudsi with a setting: when Allah created the creation, He wrote this in a book kept with Him above the Throne. The commentators are precise about what that means — the priority of mercy is not a mood but something recorded before anything happened.
