Quran 2:153

“Indeed, Allah is with the patient.”

O you who have faith in Allah and follow His Messenger, ask for help from Allah in everything, through the beauty of patience and by establishing the prayer in the way Allah has instructed. Allah is truly with those who are patient, giving them success and helping them.

The explanation

What does Quran 2:153 mean?

The clause just before it is the instruction — seek help through patience and prayer — and what follows, in the very next verse, is the command not to call those killed in Allah's path dead. So the promise is not comfort in the abstract: it is addressed to a community that is about to lose people. Al-Sa'di draws the distinction the verse turns on: this is a particular kind of withness, one that carries His love, help and nearness, as against the general withness of knowledge and power that covers all creation.
