Whoever does not thank people has not thanked Allah.
“Whoever does not thank people has not thanked Allah.”
The Prophet (ﷺ) informed that one who habitually does not thank people for the kindness and good they show him does not truly thank Allah because the two are connected.
The plain meaning, from HadeethEnc
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "He who does not thank people in fact does not thank Allah."
What does Sunan al-Tirmidhi 1954 mean?
Narrated by Abu Hurayrah, recorded by Abu Dawud, al-Tirmidhi and Ahmad. The reasoning the commentators give is about habit rather than rules: a person who does not thank the people in front of him is not going to thank the One he cannot see. Gratitude is treated as a single faculty, practised on whoever is nearest.
