And seek help through patience and prayer.
“And seek help through patience and prayer.”
Ask for help in sacred and worldly affairs, with patience and prayer, which bring you close to Allah and allow you to reach Him, so that He will help you, protect you and take away your difficulties. Prayer is a hardship except for those who are humble to their Lord.
The plain meaning, from Al-Mukhtasar fi at-Tafsir
وَٱسْتَعِينُوا۟ بِٱلصَّبْرِ وَٱلصَّلَوٰةِ ۚ وَإِنَّهَا لَكَبِيرَةٌ إِلَّا عَلَى ٱلْخَٰشِعِينَ
And seek help through patience and prayer; and indeed, it is difficult except for the humbly submissive to Allah
What does Quran 2:45 mean?
The instruction is honest about its own difficulty: the same passage admits that the prayer is heavy, except upon those who are humble before their Lord. The commentators read the two named helps as complementary — patience holds a person steady, prayer connects him to the One who can change the situation. And the verse that follows defines the humble: those who are certain they are going to meet their Lord.
