The explanation

What does Quran 93:7 mean?

Surah ad-Duha came after a pause in the revelation, when the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) opponents said his Lord had abandoned him. Its answer is not an argument but a memory: three things Allah had already done — sheltered the orphan, guided the one who did not know the way, enriched the one who had nothing. The “lost” here, the commentators are careful to say, is not sin: it is the state before revelation, when he did not yet know what the Book or faith were, and was taught what he did not know.
