Fear the punishment of a day in which you all will be returned to Allah and you will have to stand before Him. Then every person will be given the reward of any good or evil action he did. They will not be wronged by receiving a reward less than their good actions or a punishment more than their evil actions.
The plain meaning, from Al-Mukhtasar fi at-Tafsir
وَٱتَّقُوا۟ يَوْمًا تُرْجَعُونَ فِيهِ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ ۖ ثُمَّ تُوَفَّىٰ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ مَّا كَسَبَتْ وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُونَ
And fear a Day when you will be returned to Allah. Then every soul will be compensated for what it earned, and they will not be wronged i.e., treated unjustly.
What does Quran 2:281 mean?
Several of the early scholars held this to be the last verse of the Qur’an revealed. Whether or not that is so, its placement is deliberate: it closes the long passage on interest and debt — the most worldly stretch of al-Baqarah — by moving the whole ledger to a day when every soul is paid exactly what it earned, and not wronged by a fraction either way.
