“Knowledge without action is insanity, and action without knowledge is void.”

From Ayyuha’l-Walad — “O son” — a short letter al-Ghazali wrote to a student who had served him and studied with him for years, and then asked which of all that learning would benefit him tomorrow and which he should leave. The whole letter is an answer to that question, and this line is its hinge.
