Knowledge without action is insanity, and action without knowledge is void.
Imam al-Ghazali (Ayyuha al-Walad)
Imam al-Ghazali (Ayyuha al-Walad)

“Knowledge without action is insanity, and action without knowledge is void.”

The explanation

What does Imam al-Ghazali (Ayyuha al-Walad) mean?

From Ayyuha’l-Walad — “O son” — a short letter al-Ghazali wrote late in life to a student who had studied with him for years and asked what of it all he should actually hold on to. The whole letter is an answer to that question, and this line is its hinge.
