What we collect

The DeenDrops mobile app stores all of your preferences (selected topics, favorite quotes, theme choice, onboarding state) locally on your device. Except as described below, none of this is transmitted to or stored on our servers.

Analytics. To understand how the app and website are used and to make them better, we collect anonymous usage data through PostHog (a privacy-friendly product, hosted in the EU). This covers in-app events (such as which screens and features are used) along with general device and app information (device model, operating system, app version, language) and an approximate location (city / country) derived from your IP address. It is tied to a random, app-generated identifier — never to your name or email, and never used for advertising or cross-app tracking. Analytics is on by default; you can turn it off any time in the app under Settings → Legal, or decline it on the website using the notice shown on your first visit.

Session replay. In the mobile app we also record anonymous replays of how the screens respond to your gestures. The feed is swipe-driven, and almost nothing that happens in it can be expressed as an event — replay is how we find out where the reading experience breaks down. Text you type and any images are masked on your device before anything is sent, so the words you write in your own quotes are never captured. Replays carry the same random identifier as the rest of the analytics, and the same switch turns them off: opting out under Settings → Legal stops replay on that launch and on every one after. We don’t record replays on the website.

Notifications. If you enable push notifications, we store an anonymous device notification token and your selected language so we can send occasional announcements in your language. The token identifies a device, not you, and isn’t linked to any account (the app has none). Turning notifications off in the app removes you from these sends.

Newsletter. If you opt in to our newsletter, we collect your email address and the date you subscribed, solely to send you the content you signed up for. You can unsubscribe at any time — every email includes an unsubscribe link, or email us at hello@deendrops.app and we’ll remove you.

Third parties

We use Supabase to store newsletter subscribers and notification tokens, Expo’s push service to deliver notifications, PostHog (EU) for the anonymous analytics described above, and Plunk to deliver newsletter emails. We don’t sell your data, and we don’t share it with anyone else.

Your choices

You can opt out of analytics in the app (Settings → Legal) or on the website, turn off notifications at any time, and unsubscribe from the newsletter. To request deletion of data associated with you, email hello@deendrops.app.
